Rich Simpkins Director of Licensing and Technology Transfer Rich recently finished a 1 year assignment working with Russian companies in commercializing their technologies. One success he was involved in was Aria Analytics that had a new way of analyzing liquids chemically and physically. While spending 4.5 years as Director of Business Development at Case Western Reserve University’s Enterprise Development, Inc. he counseled early stage technology based companies through the angel and early stage money raising rounds and helped them build their companies. He came to PC& T Law Group in November of 2005. Rich has 29 years of technology transfer, marketing, and product development experience in the chemical manufacturing and industrial gas industry. He has brought new technology to the glass, paper, metals, plastics and food industry over the course of his experience. During that time he held sales and sales management, and applications engineer, and corporate strategic positions in that industry. He holds 5 patents for glass cooling. He formerly sat on the board of the Ohio Venture Association, and is currently on the board of the Cleveland Air Show. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Thiel College in 1968 and an MBA in 1990 at Lake Erie College
Sarah Barbisch Sarah specializes in technology-based startups with specific talents in market research analysis and business development recommendations. Sarah has experience in working toward the advancement of innovative technologies in several areas. She has worked for The Center of Commercialization of Advanced Technology (CCAT) and The Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR), in San Diego, CA, a government funded market validation study for an advanced method to detect chemical agents. At Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) in Cleveland, OH, she worked with four colleagues towards determining potential markets and licensees for a newly designed algorithm for commercialization. In addition, in Cleveland, Ohio, Sarah worked with 5iTech, LLC, where she assisted in the growth of a potential startup company involving an innovative welding technique. Sarah has a Bachelors of Science in Physics from Wheeling Jesuit University at Wheeling, WV and a Masters of Science in Physics Entrepreneurship from CWRU. The combination of her studies in technology innovation, state-of-the-art physics, and practical business instruction and real-world entrepreneurial experience, has created her to be a smooth transition between technology development and commercialization, resulting as a “physicist empowered as an entrepreneur”.
Colin Perkins Colin has worked as a consultant for manufacturing and medical companies, specializing in process management and training. He also worked as a senior analyst for many years at the corporate headquarters of a Fortune 300 Aerospace company. Colin has a Bachelors of Science from Kent State University. |
